I was tasked with developing a compelling video to communicate the impact of our Community Violence Intervention (CVI) program. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, our visual options were limited to interview footage only. The challenge was to transform a static, interview-driven piece into something visually engaging without compromising the integrity of the subject matter.
Using the existing footage, I introduced kinetic typography, layered statistics, and textured graphic elements to reinforce key messages and maintain viewer attention. I intentionally leaned into an urban, street-inspired visual language, subtle grit, bold type, and layered textures, to reflect the real-world, boots-on-the-ground work of the CVI team.
I designed layouts and textures in Illustrator and brought the piece to life in After Effects. The result was a dynamic, message-driven video that elevated a simple interview into a powerful storytelling tool.
